“Kamal and his family were ready to host us at very little notice after our plans changed. They welcomed us into their home like old friends, introducing us to their small children. They offered us some bissara for lunch. Kamal then took us around Sefrou for an enlightening tour (for a charge). We then had dinner all together with two other guests, some delicious starters and prune tagine. We really felt at home throughout. It was definitely the most convivial and special day we had in Morocco on this trip. The facilities themselves are great: you will sleep upstairs in Kamal’s house, in beautifully decorated rooms full of artwork. The bed is amazingly comfortable.”
“I had such a great stay here. The rooms are genuinely beautiful cozy, colorful, and full of artistic touches that make the whole place feel special. It’s the kind of atmosphere that puts you in a good mood the moment you walk in. Everything felt warm, inviting, and thoughtfully put together. I really loved it and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a place with real character.”
“We are a couple with a young child, 3 years old. We had a wonderful experience with Kamal. He arranged to pick us up and drop us off at our riad in Fes, and we spent the afternoon in the village with him, his family, and other guests from his guesthouse. After a good lunch on the panoramic terrace of his guesthouse, Kamal told us about the village and its traditions, sharing many fascinating insights. The village visit was truly enriching — it allowed us to meet local families and learn about different lifestyles, experiences, and even challenges they face. Kamal has been an excellent guide. Highly recommended!”
“We came across Kamal and his lovely wife Jalila purely by chance when looking for the cave dwellings in Bhalil. They kindly shared tea with us and we swopped stories of our lives.|Kamal has an extensive knowledge and passion about his village and for a reasonable fee took us on a tour of the village sights including one of the caves.|Kamal has a lot to say and I admire his spirit and commitment. They have a lovely guesthouse, which if you want an authentic experience I would definitely recommend”
“We spent two nights and days with the family run Dar Kamal Chaoui. Highly recommend to prolonge your stay in Fez with this local experience. The Maison d'Hotes is only 30 min drive from Fez Airport and 40 min drive from Fez city center. Kamal came with his comfortable car to pick us up from our Riad in Fez. Kamal speaks his languages and together with his wife and their chef de cuisine they guarantee a fantastic experience! The house has a great atmosphere, the rooms are very nice with your own private bathroom. The house is situated in the unspoiled village of Bhalil. Here we got a taste of Moroccon life. Kamal took us on a village tour and his wife took us to the local hammam. The meals are a unique chapter. Here we had the best meals during our stay in Morocco! Go and try yourself. Highly recommended to stay at Dar Kamal Chaoui! Ingrid Valks”
“Kamal and Jalila are warm and welcoming hosts to their lovely home. Such excellent food, so much so that i would love to have spent time doing a cooking workshop with Jalila. Kamal is a friendly, energetic and knowledgeable man, passionate about the fascinating village of Bhalil and its history and customs, and also a superb guided tour of Sefrou. He has hugely diverse interests which made for an extremely interesting visit. My brief stay with them was one of the highlights of my Moroccan trip.”
