“Arrived in Morocco on a Monday and promptly broke my eyeglasses. I didn’t know what to do, we had 10 days in Morocco and I couldn’t see and had headaches. Shipping my spares express would’ve cost $200+ and who knew if they would arrive at the right place on time (we were moving around to different places). And the last time I’d bought glasses in the US it took more than a week to get them. We took a chance based on some good reviews and visited Oculium Optic in Fes. Our petit taxi driver even called to make sure someone would be at the store! The owner/manager, Ahmed Alami, met us in minutes after we arrived and immediately put me at ease that he could help. He helped me find a nice Italian made frame, assured me they’d be done within hours, that he’d be going to the factory to pick up the lenses himself, and gave us a lift back to our Ryad on the way! And not only were they done within a few hours, he brought them to our Ryad! They were made perfectly, and at a much better price than my last pair of US glasses too, and less than shipping my spares. I happened to have my prescription saved on my phone, but I have no doubt that Ahmed, who’s spouse is an ophthalmologist, could’ve written me a new prescription. He saved our trip!
