“Excellent exchange rate plus reasonable 2% fees here at Al Barid Bank ATM, on 2000 MAD maximum withdrawal. 9.25 MAD (Moroccan Dirhams) rate per US$ on Nov 8, 2025 -- matches the interbank rate (using a US Debit card, VISA logo). Go in the morning for shorter lines at this popular ATM, though it's still quick for cash. Don't use ATMs at the Marrakesh Airport or hotels, I read online. (This ATM beats the several ATMs in Italy that we tried at Venice Airport and Genoa downtown, which offered bad rates and/or high fees l. Can anybody recommend the best ATM bank for Italy?)”

“Tried to withdraw my cash but card was declined, had to look for another ATM. Over 24 hours later, when I was asleep, the amount I tried to withdraw got taken from my account. The ATM vendor immediately arranged a refund, however they give themselves 5 days to fully process it, so my account balance sits at -300 MAD in a country in which you need cash everywhere. I'm lucky I'm not travelling alone. It's probably just a bad luck, but use other ATMs to avoid these adventures, while also experiencing smaller queues and no beggars.”

“Very long lines, many tourists and locals. The Al Barids outside of the Medina have a much shorter line than this one. However, still a Good ATM for tourists. No fee charged by the ATM, all the Al Barid banks / ATMs are government machines, so they are generally reliable and safe. We used the Al Barid bank atms across the entire country and never had a card eaten, any problems getting cash, or any issues whatsoever (we have a Canadian card).”

“Be very careful. I only withdrew cash from this ATM while in Marrakesh (on multiple days) and I’m pretty sure I had my card details skimmed from it. I had someone in Morocco taking thousands from my bank account (luckily got refunded thanks to UK law as we didn’t approve the payment). It’s worth the extra due diligence here.”
