“Terrible experience. Booked the deluxe double room with Aircon and wifi/internet and arrived to a 2mx3m airless box. No wifi reception in room, no Aircon (the unit was a wall heater), no window and about 2 square feet to move. I had booked a five night stay and Marrakesh was in the high 30s, so I was devaststed. The manager said I was being unfair complaining and to use the heater to improve the room comfort. Another compounding factor was the ceiling, there was water damage so if I closed the door the room smelt of mould and mildew. A terrible experience then ensued with the manager for five days, as I explained I had started a dispute with booking app. Nightmare. None of the rooms offered have Aircon. Only wall heaters. I definitely do not recommend Dar Margot. The place is also very noisey, the walls have no noise insulation and as I was next to the shared toilet I could hear every plop and trickle. There are so many better quality and value offerings in Marrakech. Even the simple inconvenience of not having room to unpack my bag was unacceptable.”
“Had a great night! Michel is the nicest and most helpfull person ever. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Shared bathroom was also very clean and we had it to ourselves as we were the only people on the floor. Breakfast was served on the rooftop with nice view and it was very tasty. On my stay I had a few work related calls and the host made everything to make them easy for me – he let my use a spare room so it would be quiet and he provided me with my own wifi :) We also got a lesson on how to bargain like a pro and we had a lot of laughs together. 10/10 would come back again!”
“Do you want to sleep in a windowless "box"? My room was windowless, and highly overpriced based on that, and the shared washroom facilities. You could hear all your neighbours coming and going. Breakfast was included but you had to go down the street for it. Do not recommend.”
“We stayed at Dar Margot Marrakech during the early April holiday season in 2024, coinciding with Easter. Unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired, prompting me to leave this one-star review. Since we had an early morning flight at 9 a.m., we had to check out at 5:30 a.m., depriving us of breakfast. Despite choosing this accommodation based on reviews, our expectations quickly dwindled upon arrival. The hotel, a converted residential house, is situated about a 20-minute walk from Marrakech's central Medina area. However, the neighborhood lacked a sense of safety, making us uneasy during our stay. During an attempt to park our car, which we had assumed would have parking facilities, we encountered a scam. Despite the hotel staff's apparent intimidation, we were coerced into paying a local who claimed ownership of a roadside parking spot. This incident, which unfolded right in front of the hotel staff, left us feeling cheated and unsafe. Only after the hotel owner intervened did we manage to secure parking at a paid lot affiliated with the hotel, albeit at an additional cost of 70DH. The lack of transparency regarding parking and the safety concerns in the neighborhood greatly impacted our overall experience. Despite the hotel owner's seemingly amiable demeanor, we found the assistance lacking beyond providing the room itself. As seasoned travelers who have visited over 40 countries, our disappointment with Dar Margot Marrakech's service and location is profound. In conclusion, I cannot recommend Dar Margot Marrakech to fellow travelers, particularly those seeking a safe and hassle-free stay in Marrakech.”
“We arrived at night, the host only spoke French, he was nice though. Bedroom was clean and the bathroom (outside) was also very clean. We had breakfast on the top floor balcony which was nice and food was super nice. A little hard to find as we arrived at night but we had a taxi taking us to the door of it, paid a lot more than usual, but it was all fine.”
