“This place is really cute. The location was right in the middle of the desert right next to a bigger dune that was perfect to stargaze on. This place was really amazing and the owner Ismail was so incredibly friendly and helpful. They had towels and showers which we didn’t expect because we were in the middle of the desert. The tents were very nice and the beds were very comfy which was great after the long drive to get here. Really the entire experience was so amazing. All the staff were so nice and so happy to help us do everything we wanted to accomplish while being in the desert. We went sand boarding and rode the camels to the camp and watched the sunset over the dunes truly an amazing experience. Thank you Ismail and everyone for making our trip to the desert so memorable. I can’t say anything bad about this desert camp the overall vibe was so great. Would definitely recommend if you are wanting a fun but also relaxing experience.”
“I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but in this case I feel it’s important to warn others about my experience. I stayed at this camp in 2021, and it was amazing, which is why I decided to come back this year with a group of 10 people. The staff members were kind and welcoming, just like before. Unfortunately, the main issue was with the owner, Ismail. On our last day, while we were preparing to leave for our transfer, Ismail approached us in a very aggressive manner. He appeared to be drunk or under the influence and started demanding additional money. Our local driver had been staying with us because the staff themselves had invited him to stay. Neither on the first nor second day did anyone mention extra charges. Only on the final day, when we were in a hurry to leave, the owner suddenly told us that we would not be allowed to go anywhere, that they would keep our luggage, and refused to arrange our transfer unless we paid more money for the driver. I had already paid more than the original Booking price because I appreciated the experience and wanted to support the camp directly. However, demanding an additional €100 for the driver for just two nights, and speaking to guests in such a disrespectful way, was completely unacceptable. After this experience, we also started noticing many other problems: dirty dishes, poor water quality, and constant attempts by the owner to charge extra money for different activities and services. But the main problem with owner who started to talk so rough and did this. Because of this experience, I cannot recommend this camp. If you want a peaceful and enjoyable trip, I strongly suggest choosing another place and avoiding any dealings with Ismail.”
“Unfortunately one of my worst experiences ever. Bad communication, bad service and the worst 'food' I was ever served. For 3 people we got one eggplant soaked in cooking oil covered with a fatty cheese as the main dish. Suffice to say we didn't eat it and left the table. The tents are not some nice Berber tens made of fabric as you might expect but from plastic that gave off an intense plastic smell. We couldn't really sleep anyway as they played loud party music until 3am in the morning. We asked our tour guide to pick us up at 7.30 the next morning to leave this place as fast as we could.”
“EDIT: *** I decided to update my review and lower the rating from 2 stars (original) to 1 star because of the owner’s unprofessional and rude response. Instead of addressing feedback respectfully, they publicly accused me of lying and told me to "play it somewhere else." That’s not how a business should treat guests who share their honest experience. For clarity: I stayed at the camp on the night of October 8th to 9th and posted my review later (next night) after returning to Marrakech. I didn't take photos of the food simply because there was nothing worth photographing, but I do have a picture of the camp taken from inside my tent. Regardless of any disagreement, it's extremely impolite and unprofessional to speak to customers in such a tone. *** Original review: First of all, the staff were great, very friendly and always ready to help. No issues at all with them However, the camp overall did not meet my expectations. The food was disappointing: for dinner, we were served bland rice with some vegetables and what was supposed to be a chicken tagine, also tasteless, with more bones than meat. Dessert was a whole pomegranate and a few slices of melon. For breakfast, there was some old bread and croissants with a selection of jams and honey - not terrible, but mostly because I was very hungry after that dinner. No activities (such as sandboarding, etc.) were provided The music show in the evening was okay, but I went to bed early to catch the sunrise and was woken up several times by cars/quads passing nearby and loud engine noises The bed was fine, and the toilet was acceptable, but the shower was old and unpleasant to use. The temperature in the tent was either too hot or too cold, but I guess that's just part of being in the desert The sunrise was absolutely magnificent and made the experience worthwhile - though, of course, that's not exactly the camp's achievement.”
“I had an unforgettable experience at Milky Way Desert Camp in the Sahara! The atmosphere was magical — sitting under a sky full of stars, surrounded by the silence of the desert, while enjoying live music around the fire. The staff was welcoming, the tents were comfortable, and the whole setting felt truly unique. If you’re looking for an authentic desert experience filled with beauty, peace, and culture, I highly recommend this camp. 🌌🔥🎶”
“Staying at Milky Way Desert Camp in Merzouga was an unforgettable experience! The camp is beautifully set among the dunes, offering comfort and authenticity at the same time. The staff were warm, welcoming, and made sure every detail was perfect — from the camel ride at sunset to the traditional meals around the fire. The highlight was lying under the clear sky, watching the Milky Way stretch across the desert. Truly magical — a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I would recommend to anyone visiting Morocco!””
