“It was a long 8-hour trek from Marrakech to Kelaat M’Gouna but I was determined to partake in the annual rose festival. It was another half hour drive from the town to the Kasbah Chems but the owner Said was very kind to pick me up and the scenery to the Kasbah was stunning, the valley perfumed with the scent of roses. ||The welcome at the Kasbah was warm as many guests checked in at the same time. No worries.. the scenery and the mint tea were enough for me. Sunset was incredible as the red rocks reflected the orange hues. ||Travelling solo can be hard, but Youssef made sure I felt included and took such great care including taking me and other guests to the rose festival and a hike through the rose valley. He’s a true gem, kind and generous in every way. I’ve not met someone who shows this level of genuine care. ||While the rose festival is truly more for local villagers than a person visiting, the exposure to local customs and ways was such a unique experience. Many thanks to Julie, Said, and Youssef for being so accommodating to my needs.”
“We had a fantastic stay at Kasbah Chems during our trip in Morocco. Communication through Agoda messages was prompt and very helpful from the start. This is a great one-night stopover if you’re traveling between Marrakech and Merzouga (or vice versa). Even though we arrived late at night, Yosef and his team were there to warmly welcome us. The kasbah is located slightly up in the hills, and since it was dark and snowy, Yosef waited for us by the main road late at night. He then cycled up the dirt road while we followed behind in our car to guide us safely to the kasbah, and also helped carry our luggage to the room, truly above and beyond. The views from the kasbah and our room were absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. Breakfast the next morning was fresh and delicious, and the hospitality from Yosef and his team was genuinely warm and welcoming. Do note that they only accept cash (no credit cards). Overall, highly, highly recommended we would definitely stay here again.”
“Absolutely gorgeous setting. Beautiful & clean hotel. The food was delicious. I’ll probably never be in this part of the world again, but if I am, I will absolutely stay at Kasbah Chems!”
“Stayed here one night in late April when the roses were being collected so everything looked and smelled great. The patio was very nice with great views of the valley.Dining room was also open with views of the valley. I have long legs so they happily brought in a larger table for me to sit at for dinner.||The food was deliciously prepared and very authentic. Well here took a walk to the Village which was very nice and the people were very nice I was even invited to join two people for tea. Bought some treats to hand out to the children.||The host and the employees are all very nice and try very hard to make you happy. This is probably the reason why they have such a high rating. I can easily recommend staying here if you come to visit”
“We had a wonderful, albeit short, visit at the Kasbah Chems. We arrived around 9:30pm and were greeted by the owner and a rose-lined walkway into the guesthouse. The staff had prepared a delicious couscous dinner for us despite our late arrival. The rooms were clean and the showers were hot, but the bed was a bit harder than I like. Breakfast was plentiful and great. We even got a tour of the grounds and saw the goats, chickens, and garden. I highly recommend staying here if you plan to visit the valley or need a pit stop on your way to the desert.”
“This was the best place I stayed during my month-long trip through Morocco. It massively exceeded my expectations! The rooms were clean, light and beautifully decorated, with incredible views over the valley. The staff were excellent – so kind and hospitable and genuine. I second what was said in a previous review… You really feel like a guest rather than a customer. They went above and beyond to help us when I crashed my rental car into a pole leaving a big dent in it, and the owner arranged a friend of his from a nearby town to accompany us to a garage to get it fixed. It was so valuable to have an Arabic speaker with us and in the end it only cost 5 EUR to fix. This gesture of kindness was deeply appreciated by us, along with the lovely bottle of rose perfume spray they gave us when we left. My boyfriend and I had the most perfect experience here and enjoyed the best couscous we have ever eaten in our lives. I recommend this wonderful place 100%!”
