“While driving from Chefchaouen to Rabat, we stopped by Cafe Dakhla for dinner. This BBQ joint, like most small & local BBQ restaurants in Morocco, does not have a menu since you just directly tell the butcher the meat you want. The options are chicken, lamb, and steak. They do have a drink menu offering espresso, juice, soda, etc. We ordered chicken and lamb, which were grilled with onions and tomatoes. The meat was perfectly seasoned & cooked. Though simple, I cannot describe how juicy, tender, and flavorful they were. Moroccan bread (khobz) is served alongside the meat (as expected), and they were the perfect complement to all the charred fat & salt. The price was amazing. It was 100 DH for two orders of the meat (definitely not touristy). The staff were overwhelmingly welcoming (note that we are Asians, so they might find us “semi-exotic”). After being non-stopped hustled at every single touristy spots for 2 weeks, it was a breath of fresh air to meet some genuinely nice and kind Moroccans. Overall, Cafe Dakhla offers some solid BBQ at an amazing price with a great local vibe.”
“The barbecued meat was really good and the salads marocaine was tasty as well. But if you‘re a tourist, ask for the price beforehand. There is no menu and in the end they gave us a bill with a made-up number that was way too high.”
“Stopped by this restaurant on our way to Rabat. Food was great and the people there were very friendly!”
