“-----Leaving a recent review just so folks have a point of comparison as a lot of the reviews are somewhat polarizing. Truly a ~4.5 experience. Google's scale is a bit coarse and so I left a 5 as to be above the average which is currently 4.1.----- The Villa gives late 19th Century elegance, with patina'd charm. It hasn't been updated in a while, that's certainly true. But aside from the hot shower in the Jardin suite that we were still able to use—and mind you there is a full bathtub with a shower handle and temperature control (no shower curtain)—the age didn't negatively affect our stay. The grounds are absolutely stunning. It's a very nice oasis / garden above the Marina. Some of the rooms and grounds were under construction as it was the low season but we didn't hear any construction noise or have any bother from it. There is normal street noise at night, but the main bedroom in the Jardin suite faces the garden and not the street. Karim, the manager on duty, was very courteous. The villa is indeed private, so if you have any guests come by, just make sure to let them know. The breakfast was perfectly nice as well, good msemen, coffee, and fruit; we didn't have any other meals there. Simón, the cat, was excellent.”
“The staff are super friendly, patient, and helpful. Location is very convenient; you can walk up the hill to most of the major sites. Lovely, shaded, quiet garden setting with beautiful smell of jasmine wafting around. The staff will acknowledge the Casita room is the smallest and not the nicest. If you can, book one of the larger ones.”
“A great place to launch yourself into a discovery of Tangier and surrounds. The hotel is beauifully situated with lush green gardens and colourful plants. Great staff available to answer any questions/book taxi's etc. Delicious breakfast every morning which really set me up for the day. You are down the hill from the bustling medina and covered market but also close to the seafront and new city. If Im ever back in Tangier I will be staying again - no point in looking for something else.”
“Mimi Calpe was such a fantastic place to stay for our trip in Tangier. The staff were very excellent, responsive, and helpful. The hotel itself is gorgeous with a pool and views of the city. And the rooms were charming and held my family of 4 very well. Would definitely visit again.”
“Kamir and Joseph have made our stay so delightful. They're truly kind, polite and approachable people. It's really like staying at someone's private home with that cozy well feeling while still being a very professional accommodation with all the required services, facilities and very attentive cleaning. I feel like Mimi Calpe is already my home in Tangier if ever come back.”
“Great staff! Centrally located which is nice. Beautiful garden and a nice pool. Also the hamam experience was really nice. It was expensive but it was a nice place, also with kids and it felt safe and clean.”
