“We just wanted to get a short breakfast in the town and ended up staying with Brahim for hours. He invited us to have tea and then walked us through the field, showing us the old Khasba and a mosque, it was wonderful. Meanwhile his lovely wife cooked an amazing(+vegetarian) dish for us with homemade bread, olives from his farm and even a desert with yogurt, banana and dates. Brahim and everyone else we met have been so friendly and heartwarming, we bought some jewelry and the dates from the farm. The experience was extraordinary and me and my friends won't forget about it!! Thank you so much.”
“Tourists avoid this place! The food was fine (Berber Omelette), but the host was really pushy. He tried to convince us to do a tour of the oasis, to go to some nearby place for jewelry and to buy his dates (luckily we declined when I see now the other reviews). He was also hanging around us too much while we were eating and was also a bit too touchy regarding females. To round the experience off he overpriced the food absurdly (250 DH for Berber Omelette, salad and tea?). In the end we were just happy to leave this place behind, we regret going there.
“We stopped at Ain Msaken for a quick break from driving,we met Ibrahim, a delightful and welcoming gentleman. They prepared a delicious Amazigh Tajine with salad, tea, and fruit. We didn't have any reservations or plans towards merzouga, but Zaid made a couple of phone calls and found us the best desert trekking and lodging. I can't thank them enough.”
“We stopped for a quick lunch, but ended up feeling scammed. While waiting for lunch, the host insisted on giving us a 40-minute walk to show us around so "we can take a few pictures". He ended up taking us for a 2,5h hike. Although we tried to push and come back, he ruled the route and length of this walk. In the end, we were charged 620 dirhams (310 dirhams per person). The host didn’t tell us the price himself—instead, he had his son deliver it over the phone. It felt like a scam. There was no prior discussion about any paid tour, and communication during the walk was superficial as the host spoke little English and poor French. The historical "facts" shared were questionable too—at one point, he claimed people used to be 4 meters tall :D We delayed our plans out of politeness, believing his "we're all family" charm, and we didn't want to be too harsh in stopping his flow of storytelling, but in the end, it felt more like a manipulative trick to get us to experience something we'd be charged for later. It was one of the experiences that encouraged us to be careful and sharp when figuring out the prices of such "services" beforehand. The food was delicious, compliments to the lady cooking, but if you decide to stop here, be extra careful confirming the prices.”
“We stopped by based on the Google reviews, however we were leaving disappointed. For Berber omelette (eggs with bread) and tea for two and half kilo of dates they wanted to charge us 250 dirhams. In the end we paid 100 dirhams. Still a lot for Moroccan standards. The guys were nice to us but mainly they were very good businessmen. The dates turned out mouldy after a few days.”
“That was the best food of 2 weeks trip around Morocco 🥰 Amazing view from the terrace.”
