“The property is very disappointing, and what it claimed on the website is not true. I stayed for 3 nights 4 days as I had paid for it. The property hygiene is poor all around and especially the toilet. The toilet was dirty and not cleaned, and the waste in waste bin was not cleared throughout my entire 4 days' stay. All basic toiletries were kept to the very bare minimum - one small toilet roll, a small soap cake, and no tissue paper anywhere The property is dirty and makes worse. All lights were switched off all the time. It was dark everywhere with a narrow, steep, dark staircase and pitch dark entrance. Added to this was there is NO on-site staff at any time, and ALL the facilities were shut down-practically all shut down except the rooms for guest to use ie if the entire premises were closed and not operational. On my first morning, there was no breakfast despite I had paid for it when I made the booking. Almost all of the services it claimed on the website do NOT exist. Very disappointing. I will not stay in this Riad again and will never recommend it to anyone.”
“We originally booked Riad Meski, got picked up as arranged, got taken to another location, we've never been to Fez or Morocco, so had no idea where we were or what was going on. Friendly greeting by Bilhal, who explained the owner of the original guest house had died Saturday, we last had contact on the 18th to confirm all was well, this was confirmed and we never heard back. Through dark and narrow pathways, we were escorted by someone we didn't know, to a doorway, barely enough room to get the case in, 1st room is named kitchen, it was beyond disgusting and clearly had never been cleaned or repaired. Up more narrow stairs, to 2 small rooms, we were sat down and explained we were not happy, Bilhal insisted this is the best solution and went on to tell it's not safe outside, there was no food or drinks available, no shops nothing, Bilhal popped out for 2 Sprites and small bottles of water, asked if we wanted tea or coffee for breakfast, but told we'd both have to have the same. Shown two tiny rooms, beyond basic and not clean. We closed the door and started to contact everyone, however it's now 22:00 on Sunday night. Zero responses from 'On the Beach', who we booked through, and today, still no response. We managed to find a nearby Dar, and we went to leave. I explained to Bilhal this is not what we paid for, we don't feel safe and we're going to need a taxi to get there. His response was to keep saying, 'I don't know what the solution is', despite him not having a problem earlier trying to flog day trips! He then said the new Dar was nearby but closed, I insisted he take us there, he said he needed €30 for our initial transfer, and wanted it before taking us, we refused, begrudgingly he took us there, we gave him the money and he left. The pictures bear no relevance to the place, to be polite, yet direct it's a dump. And absolute stinker start, to what is meant to be a chilled city break. We will definitely be taking this further with 'On the Beach', their total lack of comms, and neglect regarding their duty of care to us, is a disgrace.”
“Dar Bhija is a small but delightful guesthouse hidden away in the centre of the old medina of Fes. I have stayed here on a number of occasions, and I wouldn’t stay anywere else. The location is perfect – a couple of minutes’ walk from Talaa Kbira, which is the main route through the medina, but very quiet and restful. The rooms are very comfortable and beautifully decorated, with a lovely terrace if you prefer to relax there. The breakfast is very enjoyable and Ahmed is so kind and helpful....you will have a wonderful stay!”
