“Khamsa is a unique restaurant with a very authentic Algerian feel. Jamal's humour and bluntness took us by surprise at first, but we soon realised it was all part of his charm. The food was delicious, and he happily catered for my coeliac needs when arranged in advance. The atmosphere was warm and multicultural, with tables chatting, laughing, and sharing stories throughout the evening. What started as shock turned into one of the most enjoyable nights we've had. It even reminded my husband of home. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great food and a memorable experience.”
“I never usually leave reviews but this place really surpassed my expectations. It was my first time trying Algerian food, so having a small varied menu helped! The deco was vibrant and atmosphere was cosy. I was surprised at first by the owners bluntness, but as the night went on, you discover it’s part of his charm and humour, which would now be part of the reason I’d return! Aside from that, the food was absolutely delicious, homely and comforting. Everything was home made, including the bread - omg THE BREAD. I can eat this home made bread all day because of its softness!!! I even recommended it to a new couple that sat down before I left because it was so amazing **chefs kiss**. I had the fish tajine (10/10 and if you’re afraid of spice like me, this was a good level) and my partner had the veggie tajine. The only note I’d make is that the veggie tajine had abit too much dried fruits, which can be overpowering. This is all personal preference and my partner just set those aside.
“Khamsa was an amazing experience The food was amazing, the lamb and chicken main was particularly delicious! The interior is beautiful and the owner is so lovely. Without a doubt will be revisiting! Thank you so much for our wonderful meal :)”
“It was my first time trying Algerian food, and it definitely won’t be my last. The owner was a pleasure to speak with and get to know, and kindly recommended several dishes for us to try! We were blown away by everything we ate: from the traditional boureks and fish tajine to the spicy lamb meatballs and homemade Algerian bread. Every dish was absolutely delicious. The décor is unique, beautiful, and incredibly comfortable, creating a wonderful atmosphere. We’ll definitely be recommending this place to all of our friends!”
“One of the loveliest, most authentic restaurants in London! No exaggeration. Djamal’s food is exquisite and the space is cosy, warm, inviting and full of artist vibes. You can also byob and he doesn’t charge you corkage. I couldn’t recommend this restaurant more highly. It’s a must-visit place in London.”
“Djamel gave us a fantastic experience. Not only was the food absolutely incredible, he spent time talking to us about the origins and culture of the Algerian food. The space/ atmosphere is so cozy and calm. We also went to a bread making workshop - highly recommend was so fun!”
