“Scammed by the security guard (turns out you couldn't trust a guy in uniform here in Marrakech lol) that directed us to a man selling 4 stamps for 80MAD (that should be half of it if bought properly in the office). Read the previous reviews that even if we insists, he would make another officer said they were running out of stamps. So.. Even tourist still needs to be cautious despite coming to an official post office. The best bet was just make a bargain for 15MAD (this was what I found in the reviews later). The scam has been going on for so long I don't think they have good intention to fix anything~”
“Most disappointing experience in Morocco - no schedule sign, they don’t even let you inside or to see what is the program Rude security guard and a dodgy other man trying to sell stamps for 4€ GOOD TO KNOW is that you don’t need to enter the actual building as there is a nice kiosk right in front of the post office and you can find stamps for 15 dirhams. Nice respectful gentleman as well. And you can out your cards/ envelopes in the mail outside the post office”
“Beware of the security guard in the Post Office. Pretty much immediately after I got a ticket to queue up to buy international postage stamps, he led me out of the building and instructed me to buy them from shops instead. There are men outside of the post office who sell international stamps, but they will price gouge you by a lot. I should have insisted on buying the stamps from the POST OFFICE, like I had plan to.”
“Went to send post cards; security guard sent us out telling us to go buy from shop.. the guy right outside the post office sold us 8 stamps for 150 Dhiram. This is clearly an ongoing scam based on the review. Wish we had not gone here. Shocking to see bad behavior ripping off tourists. I will write to the Post Maroc to complain.”
“Visited Marrakech in September 2025 and used this post office for two purposes: withdrawing cash from the ATM and sending postcards to Japan. ATM : Because this office is close to Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, many European travelers line up, and the ATM often runs out of cash around midday. I waited about 10 minutes, and the machine ran out of cash just before my turn. If you need cash, it may be better to visit early in the morning or right after a refill. Sending Postcards : I asked the security guard at the entrance how to send postcards to Japan, and he told me: “Just put two 10 DH stamps on each card.” So I purchased 8 stamps (4 postcards × 2) at the counter. There is a yellow mailbox outside the post office. I didn’t trust it much and tried to hand the cards directly to a staff member at the counter, but the same guard stopped me and kindly guided me to the mailbox. So I trusted him and posted the cards in the slot marked International. Results (This is the interesting part!) : Of the four postcards posted on September 26, one arrived in Japan about two weeks later, the remaining three arrived 8 weeks later(!) I was sure they had been lost, so I was really happy when they finally reached my friends two months later. It seems that even when posted together in the same mailbox, right outside a major post office, international mail in Morocco may take completely different routes and timelines. It’s a system I’d love to understand. :) Good points : The security guard at the entrance was friendly and helpful, and during my one-week stay in Morocco I never had the kind of negative experiences mentioned in some other reviews. My friends were delighted to receive handwritten postcards that had traveled all the way from North Africa—even after such a long journey!”
“SCAM ALERT! The security guard at the post office immediately targets foreigners, claims there are no stamps left inside, and sends you to an outside seller who is a scammer charges 15–20 MAD for stamps that should cost 9.8 MAD. This becomes very expensive if you are sending multiple postcards and need several stamps. It is an organized scam, so be careful and try to buy your stamps from an official kiosk or by waiting in line inside instead.”
