“Don’t buy from the largest store at the square. The guy will offer you tea, spices and much more, and then sells you mint crystals or spices for an outrageous price! Total scam and we were too naive, but good life lesson :)”

“Please don’t buy from the largest store located in the inner square of the spice market. They sell loads of products and have the herbs and spices laid out in flower shapes. They charged us the kg price for actual products less than 100g in portion and their scale in the shop is rigged. It all happened too fast we didn’t even realise how badly we were scammed until we paid and left the store.”

They don't just sell spices, but plenty of other things, including scented oils and traditional beber beauty and health products, cooking utensils, etc. Make sure to venture into the back of the bigger, covered part of the market, where there will be fewer tourists, merchants are much less pushy, and everything (including prices) is much more authentic.”
