“A not very big square, very crowded. There are a lot of stands with all kinds of goods, including small wild animals (chameleons, turtles). Some traders put their goods directly on the pavement. On the sides there are also a few restaurants, cafes and many other shops. The place is not very clean.”
“Don’t miss it, the spice square. Multiple shops have spices to buy, one shop clearly has the best display (and very nice, multilingual son of owner) and another freshly grinds some of the spices for you.”
“Nice wine. Great food Child friendly Great view Friendly and English speaking personel.”
“The Palais des Épices (Spice Palace) in Marrakech is a charming and vibrant market located in the heart of the medina, near the famous Jamaa el-Fna square. Known for its vibrant atmosphere, it is a hub for the sale of traditional Moroccan spices, herbs, and essential oils, offering visitors a sensory experience filled with exotic scents and colors. The market is housed in a historic building that blends Moroccan architecture with modern touches, featuring beautiful tiled floors, arched doorways, and intricate woodwork. Inside, you will find a wide range of spices such as saffron, cumin, cinnamon, and paprika, as well as other local products like dried flowers, perfumes, and handmade soaps. Many of these products are used in Moroccan cuisine, traditional medicine, and beauty treatments. The Palais des Épices offers a unique chance to explore the rich flavors and fragrances that are central to Moroccan culture. Whether you’re looking to purchase spices to take home or simply wish to experience the bustling environment of a Moroccan market, the palace is a must-see stop on a visit to Marrakech”
“The narrow, sometimes claustrophobic streets of the medina open up here to a relatively large and open (comparatively) square. It's still bustling and crammed with vendors, particularly ladies selling straw baskets, purses and other goods. Good for photos.”
“Visited on a Friday, it was a lovely open space with fabbo cafes, with a bit of shopping too. Seemed a lot more chilled than the surrounding areas. Cafe des Epices serve iced coffees, very yummmm!!!!”
