Snack Toubkal

“I recently stopped by Snack Toubkal and tried the makfoul meat tagine along with the chicken couscous. Overall, the experience was decent, especially considering how affordable the prices are. If you are already in the area and looking for a local meal without spending much, it’s definitely worth trying once. The highlight of the meal for me was actually the Moroccan salad. It was fresh, flavorful, and easily the best dish on the table. You could really taste the freshness of the ingredients, and it added a nice balance to the heavier dishes. The makfoul meat tagine had a lot of flavor and the sauce was rich and aromatic, which I appreciated. You can tell they know how to season their food properly. However, the portion was a bit disappointing when it came to the amount of meat included. There was plenty of sauce and vegetables, but not enough meat compared to what I expected. As for the chicken couscous, it unfortunately didn’t stand out. The couscous itself was quite dry, and the chicken was also lacking moisture, making the dish less enjoyable overall. It wasn’t terrible, but definitely not memorable either. In the end, Snack Toubkal offers affordable traditional food with some good flavors, but it’s not a place that completely impressed me. Still, for the price and location, it can be a reasonable option if you want a casual local meal.”

“Very good value for money considering the set menu is around 65DH - I had veggie tagine, salad, tea but chose not to have the croissant/yoghurt. The food was.... Bland as alot of people have said. My partner had chicken wrap though and he said it was okay. It was very very busy but we were able to get a seat and the service was pretty fast considering. Good for a snack if you are desperate and on a budget but plenty of better places in the area.”

“Located at the corner of Jamaa el Fna Square, managed to get a small table for 2 on the first floor over looking the square on our first evening. This place was recommended by our hotel for near home like traditional tagine, so we ordered salad, Lamb tagine, mint tea (ask without sugar), and morrocon pastry - a nice little nibble with the mint tea. Not bad for 75 dhs pp. Fresh orange and the lime mint mojita was nice. Would go back again, but so many other restaurants to try...but do put this one on your list.”

“The chicken pastilla and lamb couscous were very yummy, i recommend going on the terrace upstairs for a better view and breeze from the wind! The coffee americano was 12mad which I also recommend!”

“You get a lot of food for your money here. I tried their set menu which came with tea, a pastry, fried egg and then the main course; lamb tagine. The tagine was a little bit bland and the meat fairly small but considering the other sides, it was plentiful. All this for 75MAD. You can also get a decent view of Jemaa El-fna from the first floor terrace.”

“We came here based on the many positive reviews on Google Maps, but the food was average at best. We’ve had the chance to eat at various places across Morocco, including here in Marrakesh, and while there was usually a 'wow' factor, it was sadly missing here. The portions were indeed very large and the prices affordable, but neither the taste nor the decor impressed us much. We visited as a group of 8.”
