“Please do not go here, it is a scam. If you do get scammed please go to the tourist police. We did not know this at the time. We were invited to sit down with the offer of 'free drinks' and 'low prices.' We were shown a menu but it was whisked away before we could look at it properly, and only reasonably priced food was pointed out to us. We were told 'meat or fish', so we asked for for one set of mixed skewers and juice. They brought out things we didn't order. When we tried to pay they brought out a different menu with inflated prices, and quoted 750DH for 3 sets if very small skewers and the extra plates they brought out that we didnt want. When we said it was ridiculous, and we wouldn't pay, that the meal was barely worth 300DH, they began to get intimidating and aggressive. As we were three 20-something year olds, and two of us were women, we didn't want trouble and eventually agreed to 500, which is still a rip off. On reflection, we should have gone to the tourist police but didn't know at the time. Please do not go here. The skewers were not even that good.”
“We tried the chicken and beef skewers. Both were good, you get 6 skewers per order. Food was tasty, the people were very nice. Maybe a bit pricy, but then again it seemed to be on par price wise with other food stalls we walked by, so hard to tell exactly. Heads up, red sauce they give you in the little bowl is very spicy!”
“Stay away from these scammers. The menu says one price. On the bill the price is more than doubled. When you ask the staff about this they get agitated and make a scene. The food was disgusting, hygiene was non-existent. This is just a tourist trap.”
“Scammers. We orderered mixed skewers to share, a Tangier and a vegetarian tagine. We also ordered fries but never got them. In addition to the food we ordered they kept bring us plates of mixed veg, and vegetarian couscous l. Even though we hadn't ordered it and didn't eat the couscous, we were still charged for everything they put on the table regardless of whether we touched it. They eventually presented us with a bill for 790 Dirhams. We paid them 400 which was the food we'd ordered and eaten. If you do have the misfortune to eat here, fight your corner. They eventually called over a bouncer type guy, my husband explained to himwhile I warned people just sitting down that they were about to be scammed. We left having paid 400.”
“Absolute scammers. Mediocre food. Charged 500 dirhams for my son and l. Were threatening when I challenged to price. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.”
“Avoid Stall 114 (“Stall 1”) Chez Mbarek at all costs. Walking past this place was one of the worst moments of our trip. The vendors were aggressively shouting at my partner and me to come eat there. When I politely declined, one of them started yelling at me, demanding I thank him for harassing us. He followed me through the crowd until I gave in and said it—completely absurd. At the same time, another man looked my partner in the eye and said, “Come to my restaurant, no one will touch you,” like it was some kind of threat or promise. It was disgusting, and we left immediately. The experience was creepy, intimidating, and downright disturbing. If this is how they treat people just walking by, I can’t imagine what being a customer is like. Steer clear.”
