“I honestly don’t understand how Mesana became one of the top-reviewed restaurants. I visited because of the overwhelmingly positive reviews, but my experience was the complete opposite. The reviews claimed the paella was legendary—some even said it was better than in Spain. Unfortunately, ours was one of the worst paellas I’ve ever had. The rice was noticeably undercooked, with many of the grains still almost raw, making the dish unpleasant to eat. The seafood recommendations were equally disappointing and didn’t live up to the hype. What surprised me most was how every recommendation I read online turned out to be the opposite of my actual experience. The gap between the reviews and reality was so significant that it made me question how genuine some of those reviews really are. I can’t say for certain, but it certainly didn’t match the reputation. If you’re a tourist choosing restaurants based on online ratings, I’d recommend being cautious. In my opinion, this place is highly overrated and felt like a tourist trap. There are much better restaurants in the area that deserve your time and money. I won’t be returning.”
“Tasty food, good service Small yet cosy restaurant”
“You know a restaurant is amazing when it becomes the benchmark you compare others to. In this case, Mesana far surpasses anything else when it comes to Spanish food. My wife and I go from Rabat to Tangier on the train just to eat their legendary Paella. The meal we had this past week introduced us to their version of the iconic Russian salad and theirs had a very delicate homemade mayo and small bits of pickles, highly delectable, and the eggplant fries Which way more delicious than they sound. We stumbled on this restaurant 2 years ago and it now is a mandatory stop each time we go to Morocco”
“The service was good but we were not satisfied with the food, we were served salad without dressing and monkfish paella were without monkfish and full of mussels. The sangria was the highlight, it was good. We were charged 120dh for a glass of virgin mojito which was overpriced for the quality provided.”
“Very good seafood spot near the Hilton. Great seafood and drinks! Owner was very nice along with his staff who were very accommodating to us on getting some great meals served! The Mojito was top notch, along with the shrimp 🍤 and octopus 🐙 dishes. Highly recommended for seafood cooked right ✅️”
“I found this gem of a place during my last day of a business trip to Tangier. Located on a quiet place, this is the perfect place to enjoy good basque food with a delicious beverage.”
