“Not too busy on a Sunday afternoon around 2 PM. Heading northeast was 23 MAD (Cash).”
“People often feel angry and frustrated on the roads because of issues like narrow lanes and lack of space. Driving can sometimes feel chaotic, and when tensions rise, some may turn to the Quran for guidance, though emotions can still overwhelm. My grandmother, for example, has expressed her frustration by hitting the car window — an act that could cost thousands of Moroccan dirhams if it broke. Once, a driver hit my brother’s car at less than 1 km/h, which still sparked anger and swearing among those involved. Overall, these experiences show how stressful driving can be and how much of a toll it takes on people’s emotions.”
“A toll gate for the highway. Just like toll gates everywhere in the world, but I have to say everything goes smoothly here.”
“The toll route between Casablanca and Rabat is completely unnecessary and poorly managed, creating significant inconvenience for travelers. The current system is outdated and inefficient, relying on manual toll collection that leads to long delays and traffic congestion. It would be much more effective to implement a system similar to Ontario’s 407 highway, which uses automatic license plate recognition to bill drivers seamlessly via mail or email. The current method, which involves stopping to pay cash or with cards, not only causes frustration but also creates dangerous bottlenecks on the road. Charging travelers 23 MAD for such a system is unreasonable, especially when those funds could be better invested in modern technology that would improve both efficiency and safety. Upgrading to an automated system would reduce congestion, streamline the travel experience, and ensure a smoother, safer journey for everyone.”
“This is the pay booth for the tollway between Rabat and Casablanca. When we went through there were only a few cars. Yes, there were the people cutting the line with no regard for those waiting patiently for their turn, but it's not a review for people who have no care for others. The toll booth was pleasant experience and we were in our way within 5 minutes. I think it's better to have the prepaid unit because those lines were flying through. Maybe I'll get it next time.”
