“Beautiful Riad, with lovely staff located in the middle of the Medina, it represents the whole essence of Moroccan culture. Munir looked after us really well and gave us advice about places to visit, traditional-local restaurants, and tips about walking through the Medina. His hospitality exceeded our expectations; his way of looking after us was genuine, checking on us often and making sure we were comfortable and knew we counted on him. Every breakfast was a memorable experience with amazing views of all Tetouan with it's mountains, Medina, new city and clear sky; specially our last breakfast where Munir had a lovely gesture and got us a delicious natural juice and some extras. Will definitely recommend to anyone visiting this lovely city, and hope to be back soon.”
“We stayed here for 11 nights over Christmas and New Year. Since we were staying for so long, we wanted a room we could spend time in, as well as just sleep. We stayed in the room called Baghdad. Spectacular doesn’t do it justice. The most beautiful room you could hope for. Plenty of space. The showers were beautifully hot and with great pressure. Our room was cleaned daily, and was always spotless and smelled amazing. Breakfast was fresh, tasty varied and plentiful. We ate in the restaurant a few evenings and the menu was varied and tasty. The service received throughout our stay was unsurpassed. |I cannot rate this riad highly enough. We will no doubt return. ||It was incredibly central, and right by the royal palace, meaning we were within easy reach of the medina (less than a minute), the museums and galleries (10 min walk tops) and all the fantastic restaurants and tea shops.”
“I was here for one night with my girlfriend and we were very satisfied with the choice. Room was clean and comfortable, plus easy access to a very high rooftop with a majestic view over Tetouan medina. The host Munir was very helpful e generous, preparing us a tasty and abundant breakfast. Absolutely suggested!”
“This is a very well appointed Riad. Very central in the Medina. Our room (which was the only one left), was the smallest but very well decorated and very comfortable. Only drawback was the noise from the restaurant below.... during busy afternoon service its very noisy (less so in the evening). |The restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere for dinner in the evening. The starters, of which we had the Manchego and houmous were excellent. Huge portions which could easily do two people for sharing, incredible value. The main courses of lamb couscous and grilled lamb did not match the starters. |Breakfast was okay but I would have expected better from a Riad with a restaurant. |Very noisy from the restaurant below, rooms in the annex immediately outside the riad likely more peaceful. |WiFi was dreadful which was down to a router problem. There was a television in the restaurant reception which is not in keeping with the traditional feel or quality of this riad....|Overall though, it was so well appointed and comfortable it still rates highly and perhaps we were just unlucky with the main courses....|”
“Great food and wine at a reasonable price. The chicken cous cous was fabulous and the chicken tagine was to die for. Wine by the glass not expensive either. Very attentive staff, beautiful surroundings and a roof top restaurant if you want it.”
“After reading good reviews about this place we decided to visit on a Friday night. I am a frequent traveller to Morocco so feel I can give a view on the place which is not all " stary eyed" and " wow, look I've got a tagine". |The setting is beautiful, the ambiance really nice and the young waiter did the best he could being run off his feet. He needed help lots of it. |The food was "ok". That's it.|I and my wife shared a Bissara,a sort of green bean soup/hummus. It was a little bit bland but I will be honest here, it was the first time I had eaten it,so have nothing to compare it to. |The main course we both chose the lamb tagine with honey and aubergine. Firstly, the positive:the lamb was plentiful and extremely tender. Now the not so great. The tagine was cool to the touch, not bubbling hot. I would not be surprised if the tagine was used to serve the food, not cook it. |I also found that it was very bland, I couldn't taste anything other than a sort of greasy lamb sauce flavour. No spice or herb whatsoever. I know people have their own choices and ways of preparing a dish, their own recipes etc, but for me this was the poorest tagine I have ever eaten in Morocco whilst at the same time the most expensive, and by far. Spice wise forget it, my mother in law who nearly faints at the mere sight of a black pepper corn could have eaten it. The place beautiful though I will say that but we wouldn't return.||”
