“Absolutely amazing. The guys deserves 6 stars over 5. The breakfast and the restaurant are really tasty. Location just 5 minutes walking to Blue Gate.”
“We showed up at 4 as instructed and then sat around for 50min in a mostly empty dining room waiting. I thought we would get to choose what to make but the options were only different types of ravines. We went to the market to do some shopping. We cut up some vegetables but the instructor did almost everything else. Once the dishes were on the stove, we sat around and did nothing for hours while it cooked. We weren’t given the recipes at the end. We ended up being there for 6 hours.”
“I saw so many five star reviews and I'm dumbfounded how that is possible. Having done multiple cooking classes across the world I would call this one mediocre at best. Booking it was easy as we did it via WhatsApp and a PayPal deposit. We signed up for the 11 AM class and arrived on time yet from 11 to 1130 we were left to sit in the empty dining room of the building waiting for what was next. We were then taken to the market to do some "Shopping". During this trip we were informed that we could choose our meal, but it was so open ended that we didn't really know what to say. Providing a bit more structure for this part would prove to be much more enjoyable for a class. So after settling on Lamb tangine and beef Kefte we proceeded to only buy 2 things - some parsely and beef. It was very strange and hardly any explanation was given about the market. We then went back to the cooking school where a nice room was set up with all we needed. However the experience of cooking was rather lame - we had an instructor who spoke no English and our guide was barely translating. We basically just cut up vegetables while they blasted bob Marley tunes. Honestly it was very boring and the least engaging class I've taken. The food was tasty but we just sat in a dining room alone in silence. At the end we were not given any recipe cards or gifts like other reviewers noted but our guide asked for a tip...no thanks. We left disappointed that we wasted 4 hours here. Id looked closer at the other five star reviews- none of them seem to by from tourists but rather locals to boost a rating. For $75usd a person, I'd look elsewhere.”
“Great cooking class. Mohammed and Fatima were super professional and we really enjoyed making a chicken cous cous and chicken tagine. Lovely touch with Fatima showing us how to make mint tea and serving with local cookies. Overall a wonderful class and we look forward to making these when we are home”
“We received a very warm welcome and were really looked after during the cooking workshop as we were sharing it with a Chinese tour group. The 4 hour workshop was efficiently run and involved us making a chicken tagine which we then enjoyed on the rooftop terrace. A highlight of our trip.”
“Cooking classes at Bab Sahra Fes are a great experience! It is a unique opportunity to learn how to cook traditional Moroccan dishes, all under the guidance of expert local chefs. The classes are held in a beautiful courtyard in the heart of the city, giving you a chance to experience a taste of Moroccan culture”
