“Riad Rayhana was truly a beautiful experience. The riad has a charming and authentic Moroccan design, with stunning details that reflect the rich culture of Fes. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming, making it the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring the medina. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. They were always available to assist with anything we needed and made me feel at home from the first moment. I highly recommend Riad Rayhana to anyone visiting Fes. It’s a wonderful place to enjoy genuine Moroccan hospitality and comfort.”
“A beautiful traditional riad in an excellent location, about a five-minute walk from the Blue Gate and right in the old medina, yet still quiet at night. The building itself is lovely, and the quadruple room worked well for our group of three for one night. For a short stay it was fine. Breakfast was generous and tasty, and we were welcomed with Moroccan mint tea on arrival. The staff were pleasant, but not as friendly or helpful as we had expected based on previous reviews, especially when it came to recommendations or organising taxis. The price we were quoted for a possible tour guide put us off. The bathroom was small and wet-room style so the floor gets all wet whenever someone showers, and ventilation wasn’t great, with a sewage smell. Overall, this is still a good-value place in a nice location, and I’d happily recommend it if location matters most to you.”
“We felt a little bamboozled by Riad Rayhana Fes. We got to town and Omar was very nice to contact us ahead of time and make sure we had transport from the train to the hotel and then helped with our bags from the taxi to the Riad. After that, he proceeded to continue to chat AT us with information we did not need to or want to hear while we were eager to get settled in and go out on the town. We then got to our room and it was tiny, not meant for two people. It did have a queen bed but no room to move around it on the sides. There was almost no space in the room to move in a comfortable way with ourselves and our luggage. The bathroom was tucked in a small corner with no ventilation. It was the same height as my partner and he felt claustraphobic. The sheets were rough and pilled. Also, the room promised toiletries but they only provided shampoo, no hand soap. Lastly, you could hear the neighbors very easily. We spent one night there and then moved to another place that had only a slightly higher price per night but was significantly improved. We are lucky that we had the resources and wherewithall to find something better because this hotel experience was an extreme disappointment. When we proceeded to check out, the staff seemed annoyed and almost combative. We didn't ask for a refund or anything, we told them we just wanted to pay and go. At that point Omar tried to tell us how he would make things better if he could but can't because they are booked up, at length. We had to tell him that we just wanted to pay and leave to get him to stop speaking at us so we could pay. Overall, we believe many of the reviews on booking.com were fraudulent. Some were from presumably native English speakers (from USA, Canada, and Australia) but clearly were written by non-native speakers with broken English and poor punctuation, spelling, and grammar. The reviews claimed big/spacious rooms, cleanliness, amazing staff, and toiletries that didn't exist. There was nothing spacious about the room, the stairway, or the lobby. We fear that there are fake reviews being posted on booking.com by the hotel operators resulting in a falsely inflated rating and harming the credibility of the booking.com websites rating system. It was the only disappointing hotel experience we had using booking.com over the years. Our other experiences using booking.com have been excellent, which made it very clear how untrue the reviews, ratings, and values were for this hotel. This website should know that this hotel has costed us valuable time and money and their abuse of the booking.com review/rating system should be monitored and regulated.
“Omar was the kindest guy. He made sure we found the place when we took the taxi from the airport, his recomandations are perfect, breakfast is good,... . A long list short: he made sure we had an awesome stay in Fes. Ps: say hi from me when you see him.”
