“Very nice place. Beautiful. Comfortable. Beds were comfortable. Dated but that is the charm of the place. We stayed in room with a double and a single bed. With an ensuite. There were some drawers but that's about it for storage. There is an air conditioner that cools/heats so that was wonderful. The decor reflected the Moroccan theme. We found the room suited our needs. All the shops of the medina are a short walk away. The important and historic sights of the Fes medina are all contained in the same place and at a walkable distance. Cars and vehicles can't come down the narrow lanes, so people with mobility issues would have a problem. Be prepared to walk a fair distance so if you are travelling with large suitcases, it might be difficult. We had two small hand luggage suitcases so we were ok. GPS is not accurate. But the people of the medina are very friendly and helpful. They are more than happy to give directions. Some even go as far as walk you to the Riad. There are some signs on the walls pointing to the direction of the Riad but they only appear when you are close to it. The restaurant is quaint. Tasty food. Limited but very delicious. We had dinner here and thoroughly enjoyed it. All in all, great value for money. Would stay again.”
“Had a wonderful stay. Breakfast on the terrace: Terrace is gorgeous, coffee was good, food was simple but nice. The rooms are normal for a Road (small if used to American standards). Bedding was clean, bathroom floor seemed less than clean and there seemed to be some dirty towels that were left hanging next to the shower (thus 4/5). For the price Of highly recommend. Also, it is a bit out of the way and requires at least a 6 minute walk from the nearest parking. One suggestion. If it is your first time coming to the Medina (which is amazing) entering after the dark likely feels intimidating to most foreigners. And yes, if any local helps you navigate the labyrinth of "roads" expect an aggressive request for a tip.”
“We booked this Riad under the name “Riad Hikaya - Fes Story” on booking.com. It has a very high rating - likely due to fake reviews. At the check-in one is asked for the pin of the booking. This enables the owners to change the bookings and write reviews! We didn’t know about this, but after we left, we started getting notifications that our booking was changed. They tried to change the email address of our booking for whatever reason (probably so that we don’t see that they write a review in our name). Additionally we kept receiving messages on WhatsApp before and during our stay for pre- or additional payments that contained our booking number. They said it’s a leak from booking, but we didn’t have this issue with any other Riads that we booked during our stay in Morocco. While it was ok for a two night stay and the staff acted nice it was nothing like described in the booking and the reviews. The rooms smelled damp and moldy and outside of the rooms it smelled like cat urine. There was no hot water in the shower, even after letting it run for a while. Breakfast itself was ok, even though we got dirty spoons. When we asked if it’s possible to book a walking tour of Fes, they said it would be 50€. Way overpriced. You can get tours for ~10-15€. Overall I would advise to go to another Riad. The only reason I’m giving it two stars is because it wasn’t so bad that we left completely even though it was nothing like advertised. In conclusion, not like advertised and a lot of things that just scream scam!”
“The rooms are damp and moldy. The bathroom is like a closet. All the moisture from the bathroom goes into the windowless room. My wife and I got sick and had a fever for three days. Breakfast is late. The view from the rooftop is beautiful.”
“A charming and original riad in the centre of historic Medina. The Riad is spotless, the staff is kind and accurate, and the manager, Khalid, is always available to attend to your requirements and wants. Both the prepared, traditional dinners and the brunch are excellent. I will always return when I visit Fez again and really recommend this place.”
“Beautiful place with incredible hospitality! + The hosts were absolutely incredible. The hosts were easy to contact, spoke excellent English and walked us into the Medina. The location is phenomenal, right in the heart of the Medina. Staff always present, made us feel safe. Staff offered maps, directions, recommendations, and heaps of tea and cookies. Staff consistently offered assistance if we felt lost or overwhelmed in the Medina, offered to come and guide us back if we were lost. Included breakfast was delicious! Beautiful architecture, and rooftop patio with a lovely view. Wifi worked well, hot water in shower with great water pressure, towels and soap included! Can see that constant maintenance is in progress to upkeep. Would absolutely recommend!”
