“At last a restaurant at a proper elevated refined level with professional staff. We can highly recommend the 4 course Saveurs d'ici discovery menu at MAD 490 which is enough to share for 2 persons: selection of 4 moroccan salads, exquisite crispy chicken pastille, abfab black couscous with beef (the best couscous I ever had), desert. We also took a chicken tagine. The easing on the upper terrace was nice with a great view. All was so good we came back next day for lunch. I can highly recommend.”
“Ishq elevates Moroccan cuisine. It’s romantic, GREAT food, and attentive service! Our server, Yassin was quite eloquent and composed as he took care of our evening. We especially enjoyed the attention to detail in the culinary experience. The lamb shank I had was well executed - tender fall off the bone meat, on savory caramelized onions and a poached pear with almonds (drool, yum!) - I’d order doubles if I wasn’t stuffed from the first one. Desserts were also delicious, my gazelle horn ice cream made us laugh because it wasn’t nefarious, it refers to a curved local non-gazelle based pastry that us foreigners didn’t know existed! Phew! My partner loved loved loved the rice pudding with crunchy coconut topping (big serving too, not complaining!) So after a three course meal, wine, and great service - we were stuffed and thoroughly enjoyed Ishq!
“We had such a great experience at Ishq Restaurant that we came back two nights in a row while in Fez. The food was excellent, with well-balanced flavors and thoughtful presentation. Service was attentive and professional without being overbearing, and the ambiance is beautifully designed — stylish yet comfortable. The drinks selection was also a nice touch. Highly recommend trying the Discover Menu, which is a great way to experience their signature dishes. For the price, the overall experience and quality really exceeded expectations. It was definitely one of the highlights of our time in Fez.”
“Beautiful restaurant with a stunning setting, but the food was a letdown. The pastilla meat was dry, and the black couscous was equally dry despite the soup served alongside it. The real issue was the sweetness level — caramelized sweet pumpkin as a side, and then inside the couscous they also added caramelized pumpkin and dates. It became sugar on top of sugar with no savory balance to cut through it. Come for the atmosphere, but manage your expectations on the food.”
“A great evening with beautifully prepared food from fresh ingredients and bursting flavour. The filet steak was like butter and cooked perfectly. The waiter made recommendations where appropriate which was very helpful. Good local wine from Meknes - Chateau Raslane. The tables on the terrace were too low for eating for my preference and the napkins were poor quality - not crisp clean cotton that I would expect in an establishment like this. Difficult to find as our internet connection was not good”
“We chose this spot for dinner on our last night in Fez, and it was a lovely way to end the trip! Moroccan hospitality at its finest. We were served a small cup of delicious soup and fresh bread with lemon butter to begin (free of charge). To eat, we split the chicken pastilla and veggie tagine, and both were wonderful — and the best iterations of both dishes we’d tried while in Fez. They have a full bar and great-looking wine list, but we went with some simple mint tea instead (which the owner comped — so kind!) The atmosphere was modern and lively, and the open kitchen was fun to watch. A breath of fresh air after visiting the hectic souks all day. Will definitely be back on my next trip to Fez!”
