“Visited in January 2026. Morocco 🇲🇦, Rabat We were looking for Spanish cuisine, and this was the only option open for lunch. The restaurant is fairly spacious and decorated in light, neutral tones, creating a relaxed and casual atmosphere. FOOD: This is a Spanish restaurant, and Spanish cuisine is known for its paella — which is exactly what we ordered. We spent some time trying to explain what socarrat is: the crispy rice crust that forms at the bottom of a properly cooked paella. The paella contained a generous amount of seafood, but unfortunately the prawns were not cleaned — neither peeled nor deveined — which made them difficult and unpleasant to eat. The rice had a nice texture overall but was slightly overcooked; it was very close to turning into porridge. That said, the dish was flavorful, with a rich and well-developed broth that carried the dish. SERVICE: As in many places in Morocco, service was a bit slow but friendly. The chef even came out to speak with us regarding our special request for a crispier rice crust — although, in the end, this wasn’t achieved. VERDICT: A decent Spanish restaurant and a solid option in a city where well-executed European cuisine can be hard to find. Prices are slightly above average, but alcohol is available, which is a plus.”
“Located in the heart of the beautiful city of Rabat, Casa Jose offers an excellent verity of menu and really good food. The Tapas selection is first rate as is the superb Spanish rice dish of paella. The beverage list is comprehensive offering both local and international wines. Overall value is great and is a true reflection of the art of Spanish food. The only minor surprise was the aspect in this day and age was seeing guests smoke at the bar…..clearly the law or the owner has not kept up with modern times! Enjoy”
“The service was not only slow but a number of items on the menu were not available. Where we were expecting the various items to come all together, they came in dribs and drabs. The waiter was not particularly attentive and seemed more interested in the football which was on the screen behind the bar. Very disappointed.”
“I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. Even though it wasn’t busy, the staff were inattentive and seemed indifferent to providing good service. The food was below average in both taste and presentation, and the experience was made even worse when I found a hair in my dish. It completely ruined the meal. Overall, a very unpleasant visit, I won’t be coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend it to others.”
“We had a lovely time here. The garlic shrimps were our favorite- we also loved the octopus. Great atmosphere, wait staff- 👌🏽”
“Average food, not very friendly service. Nice pub atmosphere. Expensive for what it offers, poor value for money.”
