“We were initially assigned the downstairs "Deluxe Double Room," located directly beside the main entrance to the riad and adjacent to the communal area. At first glance, the room seemed pleasant enough, but several issues quickly became apparent. The bathroom door did not close properly, the walls were in poor condition, and the bed linens appeared worn. The most significant problem, however, was the shower drain, which had been plugged shut. When we raised this with staff, we were told that this was "normal" in Fez. Once the plug was removed, the room was immediately filled with a strong smell of drains and sewage. We reported the issue and were told that it would be fixed, although we were also informed that we could "upgrade" to another room for an additional charge. After spending one night in these conditions, we found the situation unbearable and decided to pay the extra amount to move rooms. In addition to the drainage issue, the location of the original room made it extremely noisy. Because it was situated right next to both the main entrance and the kitchen, our sleep was repeatedly interrupted throughout the night whenever guests entered or left the riad, and we were woken very early in the morning as breakfast preparations began. The upgraded room was acceptable, but nothing particularly special. It was certainly an improvement, yet there was little else about our stay that stood out positively. What was especially disappointing was having to pay extra to move from a room marketed as "deluxe" when, in our opinion, the original room was not suitable for a comfortable hotel stay. Having since read other reviews, it appears that other guests have reported similar experiences. Given the number of alternative riads available in Fez, I would not recommend staying here.”
“Unfortunately, we stayed in this riad for only one day, but it was truly a wonderful experience. Doha and Othman were amazing hosts. Even though the riad is located very close to the Blue Gate, I highly recommend waiting for Doha to send someone to meet you. We trusted the navigation and ended up in the wrong place, which was not entirely safe. Thankfully, Doha sent Othman to come and get us, and he guided us safely to the riad. Doha and Othman are young, incredibly kind, professional, and always ready to help and give advice at any moment. Even though we contacted Doha at the very last minute with our inquiry, she managed to organize a guide for a city tour for us, for which we are very grateful. The streets are like a labyrinth, and it is very easy to get lost without assistance. The riad itself was exceptionally clean, with very comfortable beds. In the morning, we enjoyed a beautiful and generous breakfast prepared especially for us. We truly felt welcomed and cared for. Highly recommended!”
“Staying at Riad Fès was a wonderful experience. What truly stood out to me was the exceptional staff. From the moment I stepped in, they were kind, attentive, and genuinely eager to help. Whether it was offering trips, helping with reservations, or simply checking in to make sure everything was perfect, their dedication really impressed me. Their hospitality added a personal touch that made the whole stay feel more special. It’s not just a beautiful place—it’s the people who work there that make it unforgettable. I would definitely return and recommend it to anyone visiting Fès.”
“Reserved on booking.com, got to the Riad, and were told there’s no room for us because they “didn’t expect us to show up because the name on the booking sounded Moroccan?” Pathetic - what is this?? Made us cancel the reservation so I can’t leave a review on booking.com, but I hope, after seeing so many other similar comments below , that this gets to them and they stop this scam of a place from operating.”
“If i could give zero stars i would, this place is run by scammers. Like other reviews have mentioned the property waits until the free cancellation period is over to contact you and tell you that "due to technical reasons", they have overbooked and will be moving you to a different riad. They contact you on Whatsapp not Booking.com as they know they can't move guests from the original booking and dont want a record of this on the booking.com platform. I had to go back and forth with booking.com customer service and the Riad as the owners continued to lie to Booking.com and state that they would honor my original booking. I eventually had to show up to the Riad and deal with a rude host who told me that I had cancelled the booking when I had done no such thing. I again had to contact Booking.com customer service to relocate to another Riad at short notice on a Sunday night when many places were busy. Save yourself the hassle and don't book at a room at a business run by liars that may try and move you to a property that you did not book. Also if they ask you to cancel free of charge, DONT. If I had not contacted customer service they would have claimed the cancellation fee.”
“I only leave good reviews but this place was very disappointing and made me not want to come to fez anymore . My stay was really disappointing. The place was dirty, the staff looked they hated me and talked rudely , which made the whole experience uncomfortable. I wouldn’t recommend this place.”
