“We had a really lovely dining experience here. The food was excellent across the board, but the lamb stood out in particular – incredibly tender with a perfectly crisp, slightly charred skin that gave it great flavour and balance. A real highlight was the freshly made madeleines. Light, soft, and served warm, with a delicate crisp on the outside and a fluffy centre. Paired with clotted cream, they were absolutely delicious and made the meal feel extra special. Service was just as impressive. The lady who served us was warm, attentive, and made us feel completely at ease. She also took the time to answer our questions, including details about the opening hours of their bakery next door, which we really appreciated. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere. A great combination of quality food and genuinely welcoming service – we would definitely recommend and look forward to coming back.”
Lovely bakery / restaurant in very cozy area. Besides exceptional pastry, they can offer specialty coffee. And we enjoyed it :) though there are very limited spaces to sit outside, if you are visiting for pastry. Only takeaway, only few spots outside available. And in a pretty hot day - it is hard.
“I ordered the cinnamon bun and a cappuccino. The cinnamon bun was amazing !!! 😻 I absolutely loved it ◠ ✩◠ ✩ The vibe was also great, but the seats filled up very quickly, so I recommend coming early. Highly recommended :)✨🤍”
“This place is super cute, and the food and drinks were fantastic! The service had its ups and downs, though. It started off great, but as the restaurant got busier, it was a bit tricky to get attention. We were really hoping to try the dessert, but we had to wait ages for the menu. Once we got it, it took forever to get someone to order, so we gave up and paid the bill. Then, it took ages to get the bill, and we just went up and paid it. This whole ordeal took over 45 minutes, which was way longer than when we had the food. I think they could have had more staff working, as it seemed like they were understaffed with only three people on a shift.”
“Its always great to find somewhere that has good quality food different from the usual and without having to go into central london. A lazy Sunday afternoon and a visit for a coffee and pastry midday can be followed with Sunday lunch all in a relaxed and casual setting. All the staff are friendly and knowledgable about the menu and have the confidence to advise on the options when required. We have been for coffee and pastries in the morning, lunch and dinner and always had a great experience. Shame theyre not doing the speak easy in the bakery section anymore but its still a good option to have a cocktail or two at the bar in the restaurant.”
“This might just be the 🏅 best freshly baked madeleines in London. I had been watching Don’t Tell Dad for a while and finally visited on a bright but freezing winter day, right after returning from Shanghai and craving something Western. Queen’s Park is quietly becoming such a great food neighbourhood. I also love the Italian restaurant Ida nearby. Don’t Tell Dad has both a restaurant and a bakery, and I would recommend booking ahead if you plan to dine in. 😘 The dessert everyone talks about, and for good reason. Madeleines with orange cream. Warm, buttery, lightly crisp on the outside and soft inside, with a gentle hint of orange blossom. I used to think St. John had the best madeleines in London, but I may have changed my mind. Having them with an Amaro in the afternoon felt like pure happiness. 🫶 The sourdough bread was excellent too. We shared a few small plates that were rich, comforting, and perfect with wine. The Welsh rarebit beignet was so good we ordered another, and the oxtail crumpet was deeply savoury. A small note if you have a sensitive stomach like mine. There is quite a lot of butter and animal fat across the menu, and I definitely felt it afterwards, so it might be worth pacing yourself. Would I go back? For the madeleines alone, absolutely.”
