“Served us some nice lamb and rice but fleeced us. Spoke to the manager/ owner about a booking for a big celebration with 20-30 guests including kids. She offered us a private space (basement) and plenty of menu options. Drinks (alcoholic/ non alcoholic) not included so guests could pay separately at the bar. £50/ sounded a bit steep but it’s not easy to book a private space in London to suit a range of tastes and ages, and of course we are committed to Palestinian solidarity, so we booked without further scrutiny. That varied menu shared earlier did not materialise and we got (1) salad, (2) two types of white dips, (3) some bread that arrived late, and (4) two rice dishes - one lamb and one chicken. Good quantities. But no dessert. And then when the time came to settle the bill we see that a service charge has been added (not mentioned in any of the conversations before/ after the booking). So basically quite a high price for salad and rice with some meat. We also paid £££ separately for pricey drinks (including lemonade and cola) and there was an artificial scarcity of tap water. Food quality was high and quantity generous but if you are making a booking for a pre fixed menu please do ensure that you know what you are (not) paying for. We did express our surprise that nearly £60/ per head means no dessert and no drink but they said we should have booked a more expensive menu. We left feeling embarrassed about inviting our guests to what felt like an incomplete celebration meal.”
“We had a lovely Monday dinner. We started with a shared Moutabal, which was wonderfully fresh and flavourful, and as main courses Lamb Kebab and King Prawns. The food was outstanding; the meat was very juicy, and the prawns were excellent too. The service was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring we had everything we needed. While the restaurant was quiet, being a Monday evening, it was a very relaxing atmosphere accompanied by lovely music. A highly recommended spot for fresh, authentic Middle Eastern cuisine.”
“Honestly this was the BEST value for money during my trip in London. Stumbled upon this restaurant while we were eating pastel de nata just right across this restaurant. From Lisbon, we were transported to Middle East, a humble Palestinian restaurant that offers various delicacies. We ordered the grilled chicken and my oh my that sauce was something else. Definitely recommend if you’re strolling around in Notting Hill.”
“Its been a while since I went but though to review this place as the food was great. - the maftoul was fresh in my eyes: first time having pumpkin served with chicken! The flavours are subtle. Quite tasty, though lacking in salt for my taste! - taybeh beer: if you like your beer, you’ll love this - msakhan wrap: an interesting way to serve msakhan. This was quite tasty, with strong foavours. I didn’t mind the modern take on it, though purists would not. - excellent lentil soup”
“Literally some of the best food I’ve ever had. I think about this meal weekly (I visited Feb 2024). Everything tastes amazing and fresh. Service can be slow but don’t let this deter you. Very reasonably priced as well.”
“Food here was really delicious, we had the Chicken Mussakhan, the Palestinian Moussaka, Gaza Salad, and Sujuk. Lovely bread too! We also enjoyed the lemon and mint juice and beer. Service was quick and the staff were friendly, even though it was quite busy.”
