“We stayed in Chaq Chaq when we were invited for a wedding in Fes. I wanted to stay in Medina no matter what :) The Riad is impressive, especially as we have never visited Marocco before. The terrasse is nice to have a view and breakfast. The location is good, you can navigate yourself to the main Gate easily. For me personally, staying in Medina was an experience by itself. But I found it too complicated, because we had visits to do in other parts if the town. I personally would not stay in Medina again. The most special for Chaq Chaq is the service. Guys were super friendly and helpful. They organized breakfast when suitable for us, even at 12.00 after the wedding party. They always brought us water, we didnot need to ask. They stayed late all night, because they knew we come very late and someone needs to open main door. We were very impressed! Thank you so much! Breakfast was very good. Sweet and salty, different breads. When we asked for more or anything else, we got it. For the room: it is big, it is special. But it is dark. This is the thing in Riad, as windows go into the yard. Our room was at the ground floor directly into lobby. I felt a bit uncomfortable, when there were people in the lobby, as it felt like they are in the room. Internet is good.”
“We booked this place for New Year’s Eve in Fes during our honeymoon. It was a massive let down. We splurged a bit thinking we could sit on the rooftop and enjoy NYE- it was a dump. Stuff everywhere, furniture breaking down, feral cats around. We checked out a night early and went to another Riad. Essentially, this place seems to have been renovated in 2017 and no money has been spent on it since. All of the photos on the website and instagram are from when it was originally renovated, despite them continuing to post them. The lobby area is extremely cold in temperature and feel. They turn all the lights off during the day. There is no one manning reception. We didn’t have any introduction to Fes, how to get around or where not to go etc. At one point, we waited outside for 10 minutes before getting let in. The room had a noisy air conditioner that wasn’t effective. The website talks about organic bathroom products etc, we had a disgusting soap dispenser with a mix of soaps in it. The basins had mold. The shower water ran everywhere. They didn’t change the rooms over, considering the price, they should. The door to the rooftop was left open during the night so feral cats came down and could hear them fighting outside our door. On the website, it talks about all types of food on offer. It didn’t seem that it functions like a restaurant, nor were we offered any of this. Breakfast was some bad pastry and bread which was warmed in the microwave. Nothing was cooked fresh. No eggs were offered and the juice was premixed. Mustapha was a very sweet man and was willing to help out wherever he could. Lastly, Fes is a difficult place to get around. There was nothing out the front identifying the Riad nor any lights- super dark and sketchy. In summary, this place is overpriced, poorly managed and rundown. Don’t stay here.”
