“We stayed for 2 nights. The first night we had dinner at their restaurant which was fairly good. The lamb shank was delicious. The next day, everything was closed due to the Eidl Adha holiday. So we decided to book a spa treatment. We booked a hammam massage for 60mins. We were initially told that we could not be booked at the same time due to the limited staff they had. However, when we went at the time of our booking, we were told that we could do it together. So there was one girl that was doing my husband and I at the same time. There was a lot of waiting since we had to take turns. After our bath, she let us rest for a few minutes. While we were resting, we could hear her checking out TikTok or YouTube videos. We were done in 50 minutes. It was a rip off since we were supposed to have 60mins each. We were technically done in 25minutes if you half the 50minutes. Expectation is a lot since the price is not cheap. Not worth it at all.”
“We stayed two nights at this wonderful Dar which seems more like a riad. The house has a beautiful courtyard where breakfast and dinner are served. There is a central fountain which gives the courtyard a serene atmosphere. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Khadija with her warm smile pays attention and made some reservations for us. Everything is done so guests feel welcome. Rooms are on the upstairs floors and overlook the courtyard. Breakfast is a feast where guests can opt for Moroccan or continental/international options. Personal favourites were Moroccan pancakes, oranges whether pressed and or sliced alongside an espresso. Rooms are generous with all modern amenities; large shower, two wash basins, a toilet and a bidet. They say ‘voir Venise et mourir’. For this place and Fez we say ‘voir Fez et revenir’. So until we meet again…..”
“Great place close to the Medina with good food. We were here for three days in March and they had live Moroccan music in the evenings till 18:00. This is a Riad so all the rooms face and overlook the central courtyard which has a clear polycarbonate roof that provides rain protection but allows sunlight through. There is also a pool on the roof. Very beautiful place.”
“This property has good and bad qualities. First, the good: some good meal items, close access to Medina, refrigerator in room, ||The bad: such overpoweringly strong perfume-like scents everywhere. Perhaps orange blossom? Made me sneeze and nose and eyes run constantly. It might be orange blossom or mock orange. It infiltrates the guest rooms and outdoor spaces to the point if no escape from it. I wonder if there is a sewer smell they are trying to cover? I’ve had a headache every minute since arriving at hotel. ||The elevator holds three trim people. We are on the fourth floor, and if there was necessity for escape, it would be very difficult. My husband, although mobile, cannot climb or descend four flights of stairs. ||The safes are not bolted onto anything and are so light I could pick them up and walk out with them. Additionally, ours will not lock. ||The A/C does not work you cannot adjust the room temp below 25, which necessitates leaving windows open. There are no screens on the windows. And the tiny windows are on the same wall, so no cross ventilation. They face the patio below, which has music and up to 30 diners with dishes, silverware and talking below. It’s loud until about 11 pm. ||Our beds are very hard. My body ached after the first night, and we will, unfortunately be here for 3 nights. ||I do not recommend this hotel. It is not what I would call luxury in any stretch of the word.”
“Forget this place if you want to sleep! From approx 6am to midnight, you will hear guests in the corridor or patio, washing machines, breakfast or dinner in patio, dogs in the street or during the day construction buildiing all around the Dar. If you want to relax by the pool which is not heated, forget it again as they are building the bar and there is no towels nor any service up on the roof. Rooms are very clean though. In summary completely not soundproof! Receptionists are very firendly and the spa therapist is good. The management has been absent completely regarding this issue despite me raising it after the first night without sleep. The director only showed up last minute after i mentioned the receptionist i will definately write the truth about my experience on Booking.com and Tripadvisor. To complete the picture of this completely overpriced place, even if you complain and explain you will leave a day earlier because of the issue, the charge you for the night anyhow. A complete scam!”
“Dar Lys Luxury Riad & Spa was where my family stayed for our last two days in Fes, Morocco. The hotel is in the old city, within easy walking distance of the souks, local sights, and restaurants. The hotel exceeded our expectations. The décor is beautiful, and our room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The courtyard is a great place to enjoy breakfast or dinner. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay relaxed and enjoyable. Breakfast and dinner at the riad were excellent if you prefer to dine in. I would gladly recommend Dar Lys Luxury Riad & Spa to anyone staying in Fes.”
