“I was recommended this restaurant by a friend of mine and they knocked it out of the park with this restaurant. The octopus was great but the star of the show was the venison guolash, an absolute wow dish. The restaurant itself was very well designed and the staff were lovely. A great place I'll definitely be going back to.”
“The Delaunay: Austrian Excellence in London (November 2024) If you are looking for a proper, traditional schnitzel, The Delaunay absolutely nails it. Having spent plenty of time in Vienna, I can honestly say I found better schnitzel at small, unassuming spots across that city than I did at some of its most "famous" 3-star institutions—and The Delaunay holds its own against the very best of them. The food here is consistently fantastic. The schnitzel was prepared exactly as it should be, and the purée potatoes were silky, rich, and easily some of the best I've had. Even the bread service was a standout. I rarely have room for it, but I had to order the dessert because it sounded too good to pass up: the Salzburger Soufflé with apricot compote (for two). It does take about 20 minutes to prepare, but it is worth every second of the wait. It was incredibly light, perfectly prepared, and absolutely delicious—the ideal way to end the meal. What keeps us coming back (we’ve been a couple of times since this November visit) is the unwavering attention to detail. The service is always top-notch and focused, but most importantly, the restaurant is immaculate. It’s refreshing to dine at a place that understands the basics—like ensuring the cutlery is **sparkly clean** every single time. It’s a high standard that some much "fancier" restaurants could certainly learn from. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a grand European cafe experience with zero compromises on quality. **reservations recommended**
“We had dinner at The Delaunay and it was truly excellent. The menu was wide-ranging, easy to find something for all tastes and the food we ordered was delicious: but the thing that stood out was the exemplary service. The staff were welcoming, friendly and prompt. Such a good experience; we will definitely return. PS have the rice pudding… even if you’re full. It’s amazing!”
“Incredible food just like their sister restaurant Zedels, but a little bit more pricey and German food focused instead of French. Either way it's great and worth a trip for a special occasion or just pre theatre food. Service and vibes are impeccable too. You absolutely have to try the Souffle, it's huge and for £11 a head it's so worth it!”
“Very nice food, we both enjoyed the Schnitzel Wiener Art and dessert was also very Austrian. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. It was busy but we didn't feel pressured to leave.”
“High quality food served by charming staff in a classy setting. Great location for a pre-theatre meal. The schnitzel was great and the shared souffle was well worth the wait and made for a fun end to the meal. It was quite pricey but this is central London after all and it felt like a great. It got rather noisy towards the end of our meal as the place filled up to capacity. But would definitely return for a pre-theatre meal in the West End”
