“I visited this restaurant during my stay in Sofia after it was recommended by the hotel staff. It seems to be a well-rated place locally, with a calm atmosphere inside, and I got the impression that it’s used not only by tourists but also by local residents. The menu mainly features Bulgarian cuisine, so it’s a good option for those who want to experience local flavors while traveling. As for the food, it wasn’t bad overall, but the use of herbs was quite strong and noticeable. In some dishes, the herbs stood out more than just as an accent, which made it feel like something that could divide opinions. Personally, I think the flavors of the ingredients would have come through better if the herbs had been used more moderately, and the dishes would have tasted better to me. That said, it wasn’t something I couldn’t eat, and my overall impression is that it’s a “decent restaurant” where you can have an okay meal. It can be one of the options if you’re looking for a safe, standard place to eat in Sofia.”
“What can I say... great food, great service, and a wonderful ambiance. The interior is beautifully curated and you can really feel the high quality of the ingredients in every dish. I tried the Bulgarian salad, polenta, and a selection of meats (lamb, beef) as well as fish — everything was excellent. Honestly, 5 stars are not even enough. Highly recommended”
“What can I say about the place. Me and my partner came here after he had a basketball game - both starving. Everywhere else was full, I’ve heard a lot of good things about this place so thought, why not? The service and atmosphere - both excellent. The waiters had a sense of humour, very attentive and polite, open to my partner’s effort to speak and order in Bulgarian (originally Dutch). Offered multiple options for seating, came to check on us regularly, very pleasant and sweet! The food was excellent! I saw someone else’s review saying it’s heavy on the herbs and spices. I’m sorry, but you don’t understand Bulgarian food if you make that comment. It’s all about flavour! Listen to what I have to say, I’m native Bulgarian, lived off what we grew and the land when I was a child and believe me, when they brought my pork skewers with pieces of thinly sliced FAT (сланина) between the meat I was ecstatic! Beautiful meat, charred vegetables and homemade лютеница-type spread to dip all that goodness in. It was like I’m back in my grandmother’s kitchen. The prawns were juicy and tender, to be honest, the biggest prawns I’ve seen for a long time. The dipping sauce was divine. My partner had pasta (we always share everything we order) and it tasted fresh and definitely not mushy and overcooked. The sauce was lovely and creamy! Safe to say, this is going to be a regular place for us to visit from now on, thank you for the gorgeous meal.”
“Always a very nice choice to visit Shtastlivetsa. We will always go on Christmas. Booked ahead and enjoyed dinner for three with a nice view of the snowy city. Service was very good, as always, dishes arrived coordinated and dietary preferences were well noted. Overall a very nice evening and worth going if you are looking for good quality at sensible prices.”
“I come here from time to time for dinner with friends, colleagues or family - mostly with a group of 10+ The restaurant has a cozy, livingroom vibe that feels very welcoming. Prices are on the high side - however food is excellent and the wine selection is exceptional. On average, you should calculate 30-40+ per person (for food) + drinks/wines. For any groups size: make reservation a couple days in advance and pre-order the vegetarian and meat starter platters - great way to kick off the meal!”
“The food was quite good, and the venue itself was very beautiful and well-designed. The staff was also friendly and attentive. We had rented a private room, and it turned out to be a really great experience overall.”
